A Legacy of Faith
One Mother’s Prayer Became a Place of Ministry
In the late 1800s, Newton and Naomi “Mother” Sapp settled near Pickett Lake. For forty years, Mother Sapp kept a Sunday School going and prayed for a permanent place where children could learn the Bible in a healthy Christian atmosphere.
Her son, Theo Sapp, carried that vision forward. In 1952, he asked Delmer and Minnie Sapp to donate twenty acres. The land was officially deeded in February 1955, and volunteers began building what became Middle Florida Baptist Assembly—today known as Pickett Lake Camp.
